Thanks for the updates guys. Fuckin' ragin' here.

Meh, Charlie is the best one from IASAP anyway and Captain America is hotter than Deadpool.

I've been to Wrexham loads of times and never seen a Hollywood star. Probably can't move for them now.

If they relocate to the area and find things too hectic in the big city, there are lots of nice little villages on the outskirts where they could experience a gentler pace of life and perhaps relax in one of the many charming restaurants and bars. This was my dad's favourite when he was back home. Idyllic.

They've admitted they know fuck all about football and they didn't tweet anything for Arfon Griffiths' 80th birthday last week.

HOLLYWOOD PONCES NOT WELCOME HERE

I'm so curious why people are positive about it, it seems nothing more than two actors finding a social media narrative and picking it up when they feel like it. As a Chester fan I will enjoy the reaction when it eventually peters out and they are sold to a Danish investment fund. To think that the fans willingly gave up the club for the likes.

Blue Jam

I hope Captain America and Charlie Kelly buy Chester now.

They could go to The Miners Arms in Brymbo. It's got darts. Loads of darts. More darts than you can throw a dart at:

I think Chester FC fans are cautiously pessimistic that it will be a runaway success story for at least the next 5 years, this is based on a conversation I had with 1% of the entire Chester FC fan base, he seemed absolutely apoplectic about the whole situation.

Uncle TechTip

Can't say I've delved into it too much, are they paying for new training facilities, visiting local schools to drum up fandom? Few more pop concerts at the Racecourse? What's it actually for

Blue Jam

Quote from: Cuellar on August 31, 2021, 12:43:34 PMThere's something about Ryan Reynolds that I don't trust. I think he's secretly an evil man.

Starting to come round to this idea now.

If only he'd known about the cornucopia of darts available only four miles up the road perhaps he wouldn't have wasted all those hours in the British Legion with Uncle Johnny and Auntie Meg.

ABOUT F*CKIN' TIME:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59058184

An away match but it's a start I guess. I hope this means Wrob and Wryan will be in Wrexham imminently. Get yerselves down to the big Torquay United clash, lads.

I am concerned this is all just a bit of a folly for them though:

QuoteThe actors were accompanied by a crew filming an access-all-areas documentary, Welcome to Wrexham.

BritishHobo

In Wrexham today! Gutted, as I was only there three days ago. Would definitely be lining up for a photo like the little gloryhunter I am. My brother will be at the game as normal on Saturday, but he would definitely see through any sudden interest I show in attending.

I see what you mean about the documentary aspect, but in the stuff they've done so far (both from afar and since arriving), there definitely seems to be a genuine desire to engage the town and its people rather than just sweep through as an egotrip.

BritishHobo

Someone I used to work with met them, and all her photos are being used as the main photos in the news stories. Feels proper surreal.

Ryan Reynolds outside Dunelm Mill by Wrexham Central. Ryan Reynolds waiting half an hour for the Bidston train only to realise there was a rail replacement bus that left without him twenty minutes ago because they didn't bother updating the timetable.

Blue Jam

Doesn't the Bidston train go from Wrexham General?

BritishHobo

I think they ran it from General only for a bit during the pandemic, but as far as I know it's back to Central being the first/last stop. I hope it has at least, as it would be a shame to lose the station.

Geoff Marshall the train enthusiast on YouTube did a nice video about the General to Central train (getting the train in position for the full Bidston route)being the shortest end-to-end journey in the country:

https://youtu.be/d4S-1CkIbGs

I would like Rob McElhenney to get the Bidston train from Wrexham Central and I would like him to get shouted at by a grumpy conductor around Caergwrle because he failed to buy a ticket before boarding.

buttgammon

The Central-Bidston route is iconic. I used to commute from Wrexham to Liverpool via Chester and the Wirral Line but that was closed due to flooding for a week, forcing me to go the 'back way' through Bidston. I hated it at the time but I now have quite fond memories of that week. It would be sad if Central closed.

Ha! This stuff is even more surreal than Tito Jackson living around the corner from me in Wolves. I'd much rather bump into Rob McElhenney than Tito any day.

All hail the Wrexham train pony from 2011:

QuoteA man has been captured on CCTV trying to board a train accompanied by a pony.

Shocked staff watched as the man tried to get on the train at Wrexham General station with the white pony in tow.

After a conductor refused him entry, the man returned to the ticket booth where he tried to buy two tickets - for himself and the animal.

Classic, but don't forget the pony also had a trip to A&E at the Maelor, and Wetherspoons:

You can lead a horse to Wetherspoons but you can't make it drink.

Surely the Horse and Jockey would've been the more likely Wrexham pub to go to...

Blue Jam

Wetherspoons with a pony must have been like Wrexham's own Studio 54.

I had no idea, what an absolute diamond.

Pay train pony footballer's wages.

BritishHobo

I saw a bloke leading a horse/pony into the Elihu Yale 'spoons around 2006/2007. Unsure whether it was the same bloke, or whether ponies just love Wrexham's Wetherspoonses.

Rumours floating around that Danny DeVito is in Wrexham.

Looking at the video, and screenshots in the replies, it looks more like a decoy DeVito:

Decoy Charlie Day behind him? Or just a bloke in a completely normal jacket?

Ghost of Judge Jeffreys spotted in Acton Park. What the hell is going on up there?

Stunt doubles for something being filmed (but the actual actors couldn't fly out)? I think it's unlikely anyone would intentionally look like Frank Reynolds in wrexham at that time without some kind of explanation.

Cuellar

Maybe that's just what people in Wrexham look like

He's definitely not happy about his house not being there anymore.
