Sam

Never liked his singing, but he was great at what he did, if you like that sort of thing. A sad loss for the music world.

Neville Chamberlain

Yeah, I thought he died a couple of years ago too.

Anyway, I'm sure he's up in heaven now where he can sing away on a little cloud for all eternity.

PS: Like the first tag :-)

First hit I've had in my death pool team since January.

Thank you, Luciano!

I am an opera singer
I sing in foreign lands
I've sung for kings in Europe
And emperors in Japan

I am an opera singer
I will sing when you're all dead
I sing the mountains crumbling apart
I sing what can't be said

RIP, you big adulterer (I don't mind, it wasn't me he cheated on!)

Like Sam, I never really liked his singing, but I'm not sure it's a sad day for music from what I've heard about the fees he could attract. Classical celebs like Pavarotti are paid high fees that might have previously gone to new projects ie investment in new composers & creativity.

To paraphrase Victor Lewis-Smith, good riddance to the caterwauling fat bastard.

Shitness throbs from you like warmth from the sun.

Would not want to be one of the pallbearers.

This heartfelt tribute brought a tear to my eye.

Heh. What can I say, just didn't like the fella much, bless him.

I wonder what the EJ thrib tribute will be in the Private Eye. Probably something like:

So. Farewell, then, Luciano Pavarotti,
You were one of the three tenors.
You sang with Careras and Domingo,
But you're not singing now.

There's an 'Arena' program about him on BBC right now.
