Another great argument for not building these abominations.  And for not having armies.  Or borders.

Or for continuing to be led by the people and groups that think all of this shit is a good idea.

This is purely anecdotal but not in my experience.

phantom_power

They hold so much stock in being a grown up and then say things like "five sleeps till hollybobs"

Twitter reporting that Ian Byrne and Zara Sultana are being deselcted as MPs, Zara by instructions from the leadership.

I can't remember much about Byrne, is he good?

Isn't this the thing that the 'sensible centrists' whined that Corbyn and the left might have done but didn't? (but should have).

phantom_power

Yes, Corbyn was divisive, despite pandering too much to the right, whereas Starmer is uniting the party, by getting rid of the trots

It is the same way they could just will Corbyn into being unelectable by saying enough times, and that he wasn't a good leader and loads of other generic comments that couldn't be corroborated. They are now willing Starmer into being electable and strong, despite him being a two-week-old piece of lettuce dipped in piss, again just by repeating it enough times (with the backing of the press in both instances)

shoulders

This time around there won't even be a flicker of excitement if Labour form a government.

MP of the Year wasn't he? For his right to food campaign.

Can't be having shit like that in Labour obviously.

And also, he's backing this - along with Zara -  https://wesayenough.co.uk/ -

What a strange coincidence!

phantom_power

75,000 applications in the first day. If anything shows how people are being let down by the Labour party it is that. A nascent movement that currently only has a vague suggestion of how to tackle the big issues of the day is far more exciting and enthusing that Starmer grown-uping the shit out of everything

shoulders

Funny how the grownups endlessly remind us Labour shouldn't be a party of protest but then when asked to list what they've done present a list of things they protested and helped to stop.

Almost like that's what opposition literally is.

In fact the only difference is Corbynism had hundreds of government policies that would have been pushed forward if they got into government whereas the centrists have NOTHING, so on any fair analysis the centrists are more a party of protest than Corbyn's was.

Buelligan

And funny how all the people in charge, all the grown-ups on both sides are on their holibobs as the crisis looms over the people.  It's only the ne'r do wells, the rabble-rousers, the fucking socialists, who can be arsed to care or speak or do anything about it.

Starmer seems so set on antagonising the left, has absolutely nothing to offer anyone beyond being Mr Sensible Grown Up Man and will be absolutely ripped apart by the press if he does actually get into power.

On a purely personal level, what on earth is he even aiming for? Is he just so confident that in his abilities that he'll fix it all once he's in power? Cos he's setting himself up to achieve a level of contempt and hatred from the general public that is pretty hard to comprehend and I see no way of him working around it.

Enough is enough and it's time for a change....

It's funny when politics borrows from Pro Wrestling. RIP Owen Hart.

Given the leader of the opposition needs someone to oppose, it would be strange to go after a PM seemingly on gardening leave. He also has two potential opponents still at the 'job interview stage'. It's more effective to oppose when you have someone to aim at. For all Starmers obvious faults, it would be ironically in these times, a waste of energy to point angrily at nobody.

shoulders

He just wants a go on the controls. He's sacrificed so much at this point that it's just a shell hiding a paralysed little boy who wants a go on the game.

The leader of the opposition can only oppose the PM? That's an interesting take.

It's the party he's up against and not just Bojo/Truss. The cost of living situation is a massive open goal, just offer SOMETHING, at least better than the tories, push them to offer more support, prevent the cap being raised over and over. Literally ANYTHING.

Regardless of open goals or anything else, regardless of combat and winning - people are going to be fucked very soon.  Some, many, already are.  The Labour Party was set up and is supposed to exist to speak for, fight for, protect the working class.  Ordinary people.  The exact people who are being thrown into the oubliette.

Starmer goes on holiday.  Babbles about business.  NATO.  About pragmatic not dogmatic.  What could be more pragmatic than having a plan to save the imminently fucked?

He's just a sock puppet for the elite.  A hollow dolly for them to give us so we believe TINA.

Have you signed up yet?  https://wesayenough.co.uk/

thugler

Yes i have, not sure it will do much good but worth a go. I dont need to be convinced Starmer is bad either.

Fully expect Reeves to stick thoroughly to economic orthodoxy and offer short term non-solutions that would fail to even begin to address the causes.

She has form.

I bet they'll backtrack on whatever shit policy they have come up with over the next few days and we'll never actually hear any follow up to that.

Dismissing the LDs proposal as unrealistic certainly has my expectations set about as low as they can go regardless.

What if it's like when the Beatles disappeared for 5 months and everyone thought they were drying up and then they suddenly released Sgt Pepper

And Kier Starmer is there and all your old favourites are there, and they're all grinning and they have their cocks out  :)

Sgt Pepper featured on the album cover, amongst other people, Karl Marx, they've now got enough ammo to boot you out of the party for being leftist scum.
