Guardian claims another deportation flight to Rwanda is planned in the next few weeks, despite the full high court hearing to examine the government's Rwanda plans not beginning until 19 July.

From the Torygraph.

QuoteYolande Makolo, a spokesman for the Rwandan Government, said the country only had one hostel with 200 spaces that was "ready" to receive migrants from the UK.

Other facilities were "in the planning stage" but with no contracts agreed, she told a press briefing on Friday, despite previous claims by Boris Johnson and other ministers that thousands of asylum seekers would be processed in the country.

Officials also said Rwanda was not a "prison state" and that there was nothing they could do to stop migrants leaving and attempting new journeys back to the UK.

All Surrogate

It's a scheme both farcical and disgusting.

I suppose we shouldn't be surprised:

QuoteUK ministers who backed sending asylum seekers to Rwanda were warned by their own adviser that its government tortures and kills political opponents.

The warning came weeks before the British government tried to send asylum seekers to the African nation.

The adviser raised concerns about the tone and accuracy of an official note on Rwanda's human rights record...

Last month the High Court heard that Whitehall officials had initially excluded Rwanda on human rights grounds from the list of potential partners for asylum transfers.

The court was told that Dominic Raab, the then-foreign secretary, had been warned that a deal with Rwanda would force the UK to constrain what it said to the nation about its record...

The fuck?

QuoteCabinet minister Penny Mordaunt, responding to a question in the House of Commons, said: "It was a mixed judgement because although what she [the questioner in the Commons] says is absolutely true in terms of their ruling on the policy, they have also confirmed that Rwanda is a safe third country

Er

QuoteOn whether Rwanda is a safe country, here's a reminder of what the court ruled: "The result is that the High Court's decision that Rwanda was a safe third country is reversed [BBC's own italics] and that unless and until the deficiencies in its asylum processes are corrected removal of asylum-seekers to Rwanda will be unlawful."

Is she terminally ignorant, or is this some next-level trolling?

Lot of right-wing whining this morning.

As if any of this affects any of them. Just had one avenue of cruelty closed to them. Plenty more open.

Tories running out of wank bank material. They're going to have to mobilise the SAS if this goes on.

She's worked out that there's essentially no penalty for openly lying.

Plus she'll start waving a sword around again if challenged.

Love how lots of leftwing media were all over the Lords abstaining from the previous vote (despite it being explained why they did - here if anyone is actually interested https://twitter.com/JohnWest_JAWS/status/1668758880896299008?t=hUQ7cH4SXoYY2wWYf8PItw&s=08) but couldn't be bothered to tell their followers about when they actually voted it down a few weeks later.  Standard.

Zetetic

Briefly enjoying my disgust at self-described centrists complaining, frequently inappropriately, more about the grammar of the government's response than its content, before being hit with the awareness that I'm part of the same problem.

jobotic

Repulsive "debate" going on at the moment. Fascist filth.

Don't forget, it's Suella's dream to send them to Rwanda.
