It doesn't mention the illegality of putting stickers on lampposts, so the second paragraph of her complaint seems utterly nonsensical.

The only way you'd know they were her stickers is if you were already a terf, or, amusingly, you read her complaint about it.

My favourite detail though is this:

QuoteThe stickers have been spotted across the city centre, spilling into neighbouring postcodes - with Alex noticing a hotspot along Magdalen Street.

The opportunity to live in Magdalen street surely would have been too great to pass up for a divorcee transphobe looking for a sordid grief hole, wouldn't it?

This isn't the first time this has happened - and Laila Mickelwait has a pretty hair-raising background.

QuoteTraffickinghub is led by activist Laila Mickelwait and powered by the anti-trafficking organisation Exodus Cry and is described on its website as "a non-religious, non-partisan effort to hold the largest porn website in the world accountable for enabling and profiting off of the mass sex-trafficking and exploitation of women and minors." So far so good, right?

While Traffickinghub claims that it has no ties to any religious groups, it has a clear link to Exodus Cry, where Mickelwait works as the nonprofit's Director of Abolition. Online, Exodus Cry is known as a highly religious group with far-right ties that aims to abolish the commercial sex industry entirely.

QuoteMeanwhile in 2018, on its website, Exodus Cry used to say that it was "birthed out of prayer" in Missouri, where it had previously been closely linked to the International House of Prayer, Kansas City (IHOPKC), a growing charismatic Christian movement whose founder, Mike Bickle, has said that homosexuality "opens the door to the demonic realm."

American filmmaker and CEO and founder of Exodus Cry Benjamin Nolot once gave a talk at IHOPKC about "purity in a pornified world," in which he referenced "the lust of Satan" and warned: "We are in a dark hour of sexual turbulence across the planet, but God has promised he will have a bride without spot or blemish."

According to OpenDemocracy, Nolot defined "sexual immorality" as "all sexual activity outside of the marriage covenant between one man and one woman" and said that 'toxic sexuality' was to blame for abortion, teen pregnancy, and the "implosion of the nuclear family" along with rape and sex trafficking.

Nolot has also spoken at events organised by the Catholic anti-LGBT hate group C-Fam and the Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry (BSSM), whose co-founders wrote a book on "sexual purity" and called homosexuality "the ultimate identity crisis."

Quote from: Alberon on August 05, 2022, 11:12:06 PMI think what really did Linehan in was his internet addiction (and I appreciate this is very hypocritical coming from a person who hasn't been offline since 1995).

Being a famous person in the early years of Twitter was fatal. He started believing he was important.

Then he became aware of the trans arguments on Twitter and thought he'd spend a few hours correcting the lesser people. Fast forward a few years and here we are.

Y'know he tells the story of getting involved while he was off work all the time, but I don't think it really sunk in for me until I heard it a few times that it's a story of the most incredible arrogance. To think that now you've got a few months to yourself, you'll just pop in to an issue you're completely uninvolved in and solve it because you're so smart and special and untouchable.

Quote from: PammySpacek on August 07, 2022, 11:10:29 AMThis isn't the first time this has happened - and Laila Mickelwait has a pretty hair-raising background.

It's also not entirely the truth; Visa has suspended ad-purchases on MindGeek sites, because they're named as a co-defendent in a law suit in California against Pornhub.  They have previously suspended purchase transactions, but only whilst they continue to push for dismissal as an "improper defendant."

However Visa has also stated, as per above, "Visa can be used only at MindGeek studio sites that feature adult professional actors in legal adult entertainment."  So you can still buy verified, age legal porn with VISA. Mickelwait is deliberately trying to conflate all porn with child abuse, and claiming Visa has banned all connection with it; They haven't, they're just covering their backs whilst they wait to see what happens with being tied into the lawsuit against Pornhub in California.

Wickes have been captured.

Tweet: I will say, if corporates are going to be at pride, it's good to see actual bold messaging rather than "love is nice 😊"

I don't know Wickes, but damn. That's some impressively non-wishy-washy corporate messaging.

If I were a betting man, I'd say that the trail of TERFy stickers in Norwich probably leads to a lovely Italian restaurant that does takeaway.

QDRPHNC

lol at the idea that TERF stickers could form a rudimentary "Google Timeline" of Graham's movements.

Also - although it shows what are apparently her "arts" in Norwich, it makes no claims that the Norwich stickers have been booby-trapped.

QuoteBut this is not just a Norwich issue. Other towns and cities across the country have seen an influx of similar stickers.

And sickeningly some have been booby-trapped with razorblades underneath in an apparent bid to cause harm to anyone who attempts to rip them off.

So it's quite specifically not making any claims that the stickers in Norwich were booby-trapped, but that similar ones in other towns and cities have been.

Pornhub isn't the biggest porn streaming site, it's just the most well known.

Funny they continue to target it given that its one of the only tube sites to actually take any action - downloads were disabled, and uploads are now only allowed from verified accounts. This was to combat underage and non-consensual uploads and they took down about half of their content overnight. None of the other sites did. I don't pretend it's for ethical reasons, I'm sure it's mostly because Visa and Mastercard threatened to take their business away.

There's a very interesting limited series podcast by the FT on the whole Pornhub / Mastercard / OnlyFans saga of the last few years. Ultimately, credit card companies dictate what porn you can buy because everything is online now so if Visa and Mastercard don't approve, it doesn't get made because you can't sell it, they have become gatekeepers of the world's morality. There is stuff that would be legal that you can't buy (and therefore doesn't get made), because of certain topics and keywords that are on credit card company blacklists.

The better friends stage of your life.

Also the lamppost makes it look like he's sitting in The Terf Bells section, which in many ways he always is.

Yeah, as someone who works in the online adult industry it is something I'm constantly worried about. That one day Visa and Mastercard could decide they don't want to support the niche content I produce and just like that my income is erased.

Yes it is terrifying that thousands of people's incomes, and an entire industry, exists at the whim of a credit card company doing the right thing. Especially when all it takes is for one influential person to make a phone call to a credit card CEO, which is what happened last time.

Several years ago, before any of the whole credit card / Only Fans thing, I foresaw a return to physical media for porn. Semi-facetiously, but in a world where all of your online activity and credit card transactions are monitored and can be easily leaked, your only guarantee of maintaining privacy is to buy stuff in person with cash. And I'm not talking about illegal, under the counter stuff. I'm talking about something that is completely legal but people are entitled to keep private. This is what the government wanted, when Theresa May proposed that people would have to purchase some kind of porn licence and provide their actual real world ID to every site and it would be the porn sites' responsibility to check it and protect the data. Who the hell would buy porn under those conditions?! It went very close to becoming law and then died at the last minute because it's completely unenforceable. But if they tried it once, they'll try it again.

30 years ago, if you went into a sex shop and bought a DVD of granny porn, nobody would ever know you'd done it, unless someone saw you with it. Now, all  that needs to happen is someone hacks your phone (or looks over your shoulder, if you're an idiot MP who looks at porn at work). And you're reliant on a credit card company to approve of it.

This isn't directly Glinner related but Glinner-adjacent-and I just got to tell someone so I  will tell CAB-

Tatsuya Ishida the 'sinfest' guy today put out yet another transphobic oddity of a strip, involving a children's playground being usurped by a trans flag (and other bugbear logos that irk Tats)-adorned stripper pole tableux. Which is no doubt setting up for a 'drag queens/trans women corrupting the youth' strip tomorrow. (terfs of course seem not to know the difference between drag queens and trans women and don't care much either. No one tell them about pantomime dames, they will combust messily.)

Well anyway one of the logos featured prominently as no doubt part of the terrible grooming empire is the Reddit logo which probably answers the question as to whether Tats is reading the sinfest subreddit and it's very anti-transphobia opinions. So I'm like....Tatsuya has probably read what I've said about him.......cool!

Twitter thread about the reddit response to this features a terf saying "wow that's a weird room of obsessed TRAS, they should get a hobby" And I'm like...I'm a TRA now? I thought I was just making comments supportive of trans people on the internet? Hell yeah I'm a TRA! TRA-Tastic! And I didn't even have to fill in an application form. Didn't have to write a cover letter, didn't have to enclose my CV, didn't have to answer the question "why do you want to oppose transphobes?" Because I'm a decent human being that's why!

So yeah I'm a TRA now. Didn't even receive a free toaster. Didn't even want one.

I hope Graham takes personal offence at me someday. I would enjoy that.

Wasn't there a bank recently that said 'you're quite welcome to take your business elsewhere'. I find a lot of the Pride month stuff empty and performative, so it's nice when a big company actually backs it up.
