Trying to source a clip of Stewart Lee's 'The Bent Coppers' TV show idea.

It was in Fist Of Fun or TMWRNJ (or both?)

Anyone help?

Cheers fam

Phil209

I'm pretty sure it was in the Fist of Fun book.

I don't remember it being on TV, but not impossible that L&H reused the material in TMWRNJ when they were asking the audience to pitch sitcoms in the hope of being crowned King of the Show.

Edit: they did. Series 2, Episode 4 of TMWRNJ. Around 20 minutes in.

EOLAN

Think it also first made an aoorarance on their Radio One Show: Series Two Episode five, along wuth stuff like "Mike Reids' My Creeds".

Marvelous, thanks. ISTR the version they did on TV was quite a bit longer, they thought of some more puns to add to it, I think.

Thanks. Oh for a return to those days, when we could listen to stuff like that free on the radio. Now you have to pay subscription to Patreon...

I saw this on TMWRNJ, and now nearly 30 years later I have learned that these weren't actual viewer suggestions.

Always loved the line, "one is corrupt, and the other is gay." You can envisage the entire show from just that line.

I saw a mention of E.M.W. Tillyard yesterday, and I could instantly hear Lee & Herring repeatedly saying "E.M.W. Tillyard" in my head but I couldn't place it. One of the radio shows I reckon, anyone know?
