Switch Screen Issue

My friend's son has an issue with the screen on his switch. Dog stood on it, slipped and it went flying across the floor.

The screen is coming on for a few seconds then just going blank. I couldn't really find anything online about a fix so wondered if anyone had came across this issue. Thinking a screen replacement is the only step but if it's coming on for a bit then maybe its just something loose, i don't really know.

Looked at a hard reset but that's pretty much a factory reset so save games and thing would get lost as well.

Any ideas?

EDIT - just been told there is coloured lines across the screen so it's probably just going to need to be replaced.
