John Kearns - The Varnishing Days

Previous topic - Next topic
Just saw in The Lowry, probably the best stand I've seen in years even better than Stewart Lees last two, helped by a man with a infection laugh in the front row even breaking John

Warm up act was forgettable was the only downside

MigraineBoy

Saw it back in February at Soho Theater - Nice opener about the increased crowd being on Taskmaster brings which was then beautifully over-egged later when the audience participation bits didn't quite go the way he planned.

I'm going to see it agin in Liverpool because whole chunks of a bit about Marco Pierre White were lost to me as I was laughing uncontrollably.

DrGreggles

Saw it at the Fringe, going again this week.
Yes, it's that good.

Snrub

Saw it at The Lowry as well, albeit earlier in the year. Love that he's got a bit bigger as have seen all his previous shows at XS Malarkey (still ace there of course) as he deserves a big audience.

John is just one of those comedians who can make me crease up laughing with just a look but he backs it up with both precise and thoughtful writing. His crowd chats are always good too. One of the best

Tiggles

Ah just posted about this on the "what have you seen lately" thread.

Loved it. Going to try to see it again. It's so good.

I really enjoyed Chris Cantrill in support!

edwardfog

One of my top 5 stand ups. Love to see him building such a devoted audience in this organic and sustainable fashion. I think he'll be amazing as an old man which is not true for all stand ups

Snrub

Heads up, a recorded version of this is going to be on Sky/Now TV on August 31st

CaledonianGonzo

Was on last night and available now on catch-up. It's very good.

Led Souptin

Oh daamn I don't want this to turn into the basic lee thread but if anyone has a link to this PLEASE do not DM ME.

Tiggles

burst_arm

I would also hate it if someone sent me a link.

Miles Z

Don't give me a heads up if any link occurs.

non capisco

I would be similarly incensed if anyone was to PM me with a link to this, what a low down dirty shame that would be.

whatabulb

i actually paid for a nowtv subscription to watch this tonight but it's not on there yet.

having paid for it, i feel if someone were to DM me a link then both of our consciences would be clear as clear can be

privatefriend

Would like to watch this recording (having seen it on tour) but Sky can suck my chuddies.

whatabulb

Ah my bad, it's now on NowTv (I was in Dublin at the weekend, and is only on the UK version, not Eire...)

Looking forward to watching it again with some herbal refreshment at the weekend.

mrfridge

I'm already livid at the prospect of this plopping right up my inbox.

I can sort of understand piracy when it comes to Marvel or a big studio like that, but pirating a John Kearns stand-up special seems a little off.

No reasonable person wants to subscribe to sky/NOWTV. Would happily buy on vimeo etc.

Whereas I feel the opposite

I can understand that back when the Murdochs owned it, but what's the reason now, out of interest?

xkcdsdk

I too would like to express my fondness for not receiving a link to that particular stand up special.

Timothy

I would be very annoyed if someone would send me a link to that stand up special.

one_sharper

I would similarly hate to be sent a link to watch this.

GantzGraf

well unlike everyone else I would absolutely love it if someone could please send me a link to this

i'm in two minds as to how i'd feel if i were to receive a link to john kearns' standup special

in all likelihood i'll never find out

iamcoop

I would also like this if it's going. (Being sarcastic). He's funny as fuck and his shows in Newcastle sold out insanely quickly.

SteveDave

I too would like to be DM'd.

I don't John Kearns is on a pay-per-view deal with Now TV/Sky so he's had his money.

C_Larence

Please don't DM this to me. I think he's funny enough, but I'm not a huge fan of stand up as a form and I don't want to waste the spare time I have watching it.
