How is this even possible when women play fewer sets?

Should females have to play a 5 set game? Its a cardio thing, surelt women can play 5 sets. Let's face it the Williams sisters would probably smash the men's game as well.

this post is a kind of marvelous mix of rhetorical questions and contextless statements.

Out in the first round. She is useless on clay, but still, at 27 she has never won a main draw match at Roland Garros, which is abysmal for someone who's been ranked fourth in the world.

BlodwynPig

She's the great white hope of Hungarian tennis now

Venus Williams too.

Abysmal but nevertheless interesting. 90s, the better decade where everything was better had lots more specialists.

selectivememory

Yeah, that's true, and even the players that are supposed to have bad surfaces are still pretty good on them (for example Stan on grass, and pre-2015 Murray on clay). Though you'd still have expected her to have made the second round at least once!

In a big slump though since Wimbledon last year. Don't see her going on any runs in the remaining majors this year.

Ostapenko out.

Already after day one we know that there's going to be a new French Open finalist, so that's cool. Should be Svitolina, but she's yet to really do anything in a major. But if she plays like she did in Rome she's going to have a great chance at winning the thing.

BlodwynPig

Has to be Garcia or I'm ooooot

buntyman

Konta's rubbish to watch, even when she's winning her style is so awkward and stilted. Give me Watson any day

rjd2

She's terribly dull to watch even when in the zone. I don't think she is an awful person, but can be a bit stroppy and her behavior after losing to Venus last year wasn't that classy.

Also that fucking serve, Yulia was mocking her today over it.

BlodwynPig

So with one small rant at the journalists, Konta has now lost all goodwill of the patriots of the UK. ha ha ha! glorious. She can fuck off out of the top 100 too. Cunta.

selectivememory

She seems like a nice person really, just a bit earnest and boring. Which is why that rant is even remotely notable, as she pretty much sticks to her script in pressers the rest of the time. I'm sure she'll stop the rot eventually. She's totally in the wrong profession though if she doesn't want people to comment on her performances! I don't think she's going to have a good Wimbledon given the inevitable hype she'll have to deal with, even in the form she's in.

She isn't the greatest player to watch, but given the right match-up (usually a scrapper like Halep who can put her in awkward positions) her matches can be great fun.

Stan currently in a fourth set against Garcia-Lopez, and needs a decent run here as he's defending loads of points. Risks joining Murray outside the top 100 if he loses early on. Neither of them seem to have recovered from that amazing match they had in the semis here last year.

bgmnts

What the actual fuck are the commentators talking about? Towel racks? Sexualisation or kids using towels or handing out towels?

Deanjam

They're bringing in towel racks at this years Next Gen finals so the kids don't have to handle the manky towels.

South-African-Kiwi-Texan-Welsh-Scot Cameron Norrie is through to round two with a retirement over Gojowczyk.

Underarm serve.

Zverev has been making hard work of his draw, but he's in the fourth round now, for only the second time in a major. Got off lucky today though, with Dzumhur making some dreadful errors at crucial moments. But I do think that if he makes the final, Zverev's the player most likely to make it uncomfortable for Rafa. Tough quarter though, as only one out of him, Nishikori and Thiem can make the semis.

Djoko still doesn't seem to be at the right level yet for winning this title again. In a bit of struggle against Bautista-Agut right now. Would play Verdasco if he gets through this, which could also be complicated.

Shoulders?-Stomach!

Why not Ronadalo play tennis?

You have not see yet but it is true, yes, class is permanent

Walk a mile in Ronadalo Nike Air shoes and you understanding

3-0 Ronadalo to score first

Ronadal Garros is Ronadalos forever

I don't know what Serena is wearing but it makes her look like a middle aged mum about to do some Zumba.

Still fancy her though.

Possibly Wimbledon or the US Open Novak's best chance for a Slam, this is probably to early for him.  Dzumhur played well, but blew it at key moments.

Kvitova v Kontavelt, Sloane v Giorgi and Goffin v Monfils still to come today.

selectivememory

Svitolina gone. Didn't see her match, but seems that she still is struggling bring her tour form to the majors. No idea who makes the final from that side of the draw. Probably one out of Wozniacki, Keys, Stephens or Kvitova.

She tricked the bookies into making her favourite for this Slam again on the back of her form before this! Its very odd her dire Slam record as she is clearly an elite player. In that quarter its brutal, you can't discount Kasakina (I have money on her) and Kontavelt who is very good on this surface.
