News: Noel Gallagher is hosting a show on Absolute Radio with Matt on February 15th (9-11pm). It should be great, I loved the one they did on Radio 2 a while ago.

I hadn't heard about that, cheers. Yeah, I remember that radio 2 show being pretty good and I like that Matt has sort of become Noel's occasional media sidekick since the radio days ended. They did a webcast together a couple of years back OVER FOUR YEARS AGO. FUCK ME that's worth taking a look at for any Matt fans who haven't seen it before.

Old Nehamkin

I completely forgot that the Noel and Matt show was on last night, but you can listen again here if you're that way inclined.

It's also on iTunes in four chunks if you want it to keep (I presume it's as above without the music - haven't listened to either yet)

Dr Rock

I was watching a doc on 'ol Russ off the Netflix and they had some clips of his early presenting, and for what it's worth, it is clear them perfect gleaming teeth he sports now have had a fair bit of work. Nothing wrong with that, I'm having mine done a bit and so did Dear Departed Dame David Bowie, but check out how minging they are here for example.

They new ones went in just before he did Big Brothers Big Mouth if you want an inception date.

!!!

In a recent interview with Moyles (had no idea it was him, more 'cause it was 95% less laddy than because of the weight loss), Russ was grilling him about getting a spot for himself, Matt and Gee on X (or whatever XFM changed into).  Moyles said he'd set it up for him.  Hopefully that's what happened, as much as I loved the last audioboom podcast, that live tension was missing in places.  Will be great to see Matt and Russ swapping bizarre parenting tips.

I've been re-listening to Russell and Matt's Radio 6 and Radio 2 runs for the past couple of weeks.

I really hope that Instagram pic brings some more fun.

Is there still an archive of old stuff around?
I've only ever heard this set of podcasts...

amnesiac

wonder what obscure platform they'll use this time

His new podcast, "Under the Skin" goes up on iTunes tomorrow (Thursday). There's a 2 minute teaser up now, but I haven't listened to it yet.

Old Nehamkin

Based on the preview that podcast is just Russell interviewing academics by himself. I wonder if the thing with Matt is to do with an unrelated project.  It'd be very weird for Russell to post that photo and that caption if they weren't planning on doing something together.

I thought this was very enlightening and a quick hour (hour an a half?) Really good stuff, even if the subject matter was incredibly depressing.

XFM press release:

http://www.radiox.co.uk/radio/russell-brand/russell-brand-returns-to-live-radio-radio-x-show/

Starts this Sunday, runs from 11am-1pm and will also be available as a podcast. Was a bit worried about the absence of Matt's name in the description, but Russell confirms he'll be back (along with Gee) in the attached announcement video.

Great news.

QuoteRussell Brand will make his return to live radio this Sunday (2 April) with a new show on Radio X. Brand will host Sunday mornings on Radio X from 11am – 1pm.

Returning to his comedy roots, Russell will be joined by special guests in the Radio X studio, with the show also being turned into a podcast.

Russell says: "I'm going to be on Radio X - the show will be about joy, unity and togetherness. Sorry for any offence in advance."

And that's not all - Russell wants listeners to get involved with the new show and has posed a number of probing questions to inspire you...

What question would you ask Russell live on air?
What are your best/worst traits?
Do you have a special skill?
What moment in your life are you most ashamed of?
What's the weirdest / naughtiest / most embarrassing thing you've ever done to your parent/s, or that your parent has done to you?
Do you have children? If so, what's the weirdest / naughtiest / most embarrassing thing your child has done to you, or you've done to your child?
What's one problem Russell can help you with? (e.g. A day off work? Begin/end relationship?)
As a parent, what one piece of parenting advice would you give Russell?

Cool! I've been enjoying his other podcast. Anyone keeping up with it?

hedgehog90

I'm currently listening to his other podcast 'Under The Skin'.
I wasn't expecting to enjoy them but they're actually very good. I'd highly recommend them if you're up for listening to engaging chit-chat about today's sociopolitical issues.

I'm in the middle of the 3rd episode with Adam Curtis and I just want to note that I'm about 50 minutes in and it's provoked 3 or 4 proper belly laughs and an awful lot of sniggering.
Unlike the previous 2 eps, Russell's put on his familiar 'naughty' persona to clash with Curtis's austere manner, creating a wonderfully strange dynamic.
It's a shame you can't see Curtis's face, I'd love to see his reactions to some of Russell's remarks.

I have a bad feeling about this. I love the old Russ & Matt podcasts and have listened to them a lot - but Russell is a different man now, he's a wanna be guru who has recently said porn is bad. That's not the Russell Brand I ever knew, or want to know.

Hopefully I'm wrong and Matt can prick his pomposity as usual.

Has always had that side to him I think. All the mystical spiritual toss he spouts has always been there too. He's just a bit better informed politically now and less of a sex pest

He was all of that during the Audioboom 'cast, and that was as good as ever.  He's definitely gone weirdly calm (almost flat, even) since having a kid, however.  It'll be great, though, 'cause Matt's like that guy you've known since childhood who immediately ploughs past all the acquired baggage and sends you spiralling back to adolescence again.

There's also a 1hr 56min live stream from the show, up on his Facebook page.

Loved the first show, feels reassuringly familiar. Matt Morgan really is the perfect sidekick for Russell, who needs his bubble bursting occasionally. And they don't seem to have cut much from the podcast. So glad to have this back on my weekly podcast schedule!

I thought it was really good start and could take a few weeks to bed in but am looking forward to more podcasts being available. I couldn't find a podcast  on the Radio X site that worked but there is this if you fancy a listen

I think Radio X links you to iTunes, which is where I downloaded it from.
