Now that I think of it, Steve Jobs did used to spend a lot of time talking about "the iPod MP3 player".

QuoteJudge dismisses 'vapid' Elon Musk lawsuit against group that cataloged racist content on X
Center for Countering Digital Hate has chronicled rise of racist, antisemitic and extremist content on X since Musk's acquisition

A judge in California on Monday dismissed the tech billionaire Elon Musk's lawsuit against the Center for Countering Digital Hate, a non-profit that has published reports chronicling the rise of racist, antisemitic and extremist content on X, formerly Twitter, since Musk's acquisition.

The case was dismissed in accordance with the state's anti-Slapp law, which forbids nuisance lawsuits intended to punish the exercise of free speech.

Trump's Twitter clone Truth Social has just launched with a valuation (based on the share price) of $9 bn, which could now be more than Twitter is worth. In January, Twitter was being valued at $12.5 bn, while in the last quarter of 2023 estimates ranged from $19bn down to as low as $4bn.

I don't really want Truth Social to be a success but it'll be interesting to see if it tanks or is able to compete with Musk for the haters. (Also no idea if it's better or worse to use than the frequently-horrible Twitter.)

The Baltimore incident today is a good illustration of how shit it is. Yes there would be a fair bit of shit back in the day, but you'd be able to find new videos and commentaries from engineers etc.

Now that's buried under blue-tick "citizen journalists" who at best are clout stealing with the same video trying to get views, or at worst blaming it on Israel, Ukraine, woke, or the Indian crew having low IQs.

Well Elon recently cry-laughed at the current transport secretary Pete Buttigieg's comment that roads are racist, comes from that basically. Dems are too busy worrying about racist roads than maintaining infrastructure.

https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1736643843188031935

Because the racist history of America's postwar highway infrastructure is all over the internet, and because of his interest in transport infrastructure, I'm sure Elon Musk has read stuff like this:

https://www.amnestyusa.org/roads-and-race-how-the-highway-system-symbolizes-racial-injustice-in-america/

he just doesn't care because he thinks that being a racist cunt is good actually

Mister Six

I'm sure he hasn't read stuff like that, because outside of a very thin niche of shit that 14-year-olds liked 40 years ago, he's an incurious moron.

touchingcloth

He's always using the X platform, though. He'll have come across some talk or other about redlining in the course of that.

Isn't it funny how when you become invested in a humanitarian crisis you really want to support the rescuers but as soon as they reject your offer they become Pedo Guy?

Imagine admitting that your ex hated having sex with you and your weird shrivelled penis.

How would you describe this?

● Shrivelled and weird
● Nothing to be ashamed of

I know he's got ten kids and has been married a few times but I can't help thinking of Elon Musk as sexless. He seems like someone who's too married to the job and too weird to be interested in any kind of human relationship. I suppose it may be the way he's had so many sprogs via IVF and surrogates, like he finds the natural process a bit ewww and he would just rather provide the DNA and get out of there. Or maybe the way his and Grimes' pillow talk seems to be all about aircraft.

I recall people here saying a similar thing about Ricky Gervais even though we know he's been in a relationship for decades, just a similar vibe about him.

idunnosomename

he must have no real human interaction. if you're a billionaire all you can really be friends with are other billionaires. but since they're disgusted by him being openly white supremacist eugenicist (rather than keeping quiet about shit like that and donating to marginalised folk charities) he's reduced to just posting crylaugh emojis at the Babylon Bee, exclamation marks at Libs of Tik Tok and "yes" at his fluffers like DogeDesigner on his website which is full of porn bots

also if ever you forget what a reddit-ass knobhead with no practical knowledge he is, here he is weighing in on Baltimore

QuoteIf you reuse the truss steel that fell, it could be functioning in 3 to 6 months.

The repair should be put to commercial bid with a massive incentive for early and safe completion.

as anyone knows, the strength of the steel beams that make up the central truss has been compromised by the fall, it needs to go back to the smelting factory. also the replacement should be a cable-stay bridge rather than a replacement with the same vulnerabilities.

He is such a fucking idiot

Steel doesn't melt at 5 degrees.

Captain Z

Surely they could easily build a replacement tunnel with some re-purposed Space X rockets?

touchingcloth

Just take people across the river on special tiny submarines.

Uncle TechTip

Would a cable bridge have more chance of staying intact in a similar incident? I've no idea. Would it dangle in the air?

Maybe he's saying rebuild it quick but then build another bridge with cables.

Blumf

I would think the main thing would be to build proper piers, with strong protection. The actual style of the bridge is probably not that important.

jobotic

Make it out of AI. Or doge or something. I don't know. 3D print it.

MojoJojo

Think the point with a cable stay is you'd have less piers. So less to crash into, easier to protect.

touchingcloth

Would a Hyperloop work, or a Falcon 9?
