Underrated edition this one, flipping the format on its head, much needed after the tired Graveraper 7 (1987).

In Solitude the focus is less on what Graveraper does to others and more about what Graveraper's actions are doing to Graveraper himself.

Given this sort of turn would only become a stock premise in the 00s and 10s to refresh old franchises, Solitude of the Graveraper could be said to have been ahead of its time. Also explains the poor box office and lack of critical acclaim, maybe the journos and the public just weren't ready for it.

Keith Chegwin as Graveraper, though? He never quite popped, for me.
