Anyone still play GTA Online?

Get vehicle warehouse, preferably last week when they were 25% off :-) hangar is shit business, only good if you want to collect planes and choppers. My bunker is partly upgraded and I still haven't made 3 million from it, whereas I've done about 20 million in cars. Bunker is passive income, slow.

Hanger is shit. Grinding the stock is far too difficult too. Shoot a load of planes out of the sky then spend 12 minutes trying to swim out to the crate and spend 12 minutes getting shot by helicopters. I'm on about a 60% success rate.

Rizla

I'm quite enjoying the hangar missions so far but the time to money ratio seems all to cock, especially after the recent x2 £ on vehicle i/e. I've only been doing them solo so far, I'd guess they're a lot quicker, easier and more profitable if you have a few helpers. Bombing stuff is quite a good laugh.

I got a bunker but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Am I right in thinking its best to get an armoured car for doing those gun running missions? I'll get a vehicle warehouse too. I just hate all those missions that are all about getting grief from other players though.

I heard an interesting thing the other night about why casinos will never come to GTA Online. Apparently there was a plan to bring them into the game and work was done on it but because of the situation with the shark cards you could in effect gamble with real world money. That would put the game and Rockstar into a potential mine field of legal problems which understandably they can't be arsed with. I think the feeling was they could have made it work somehow but as GTA Online begins to wind down they're just not going to bother with it.

Can i get in on this?  My psn name is novokainemc . Im playing gta5 for the first time in ages and i need funds .Im ready to put in the work if anyone is in need of a crew member.

No, for gun running shipments you are provided with the delivery vehicle. People generally leave you alone as they can handle themselves for the most part, but you will also get a two man buggy (drop mines by honking horn)  and a monster truck. Sell stock while below $175,000 and you'll only need one delivery vehicle, and sometimes even only one stop (like in Phantom Wedge missions and one of the Insurgent ones.) No security upgrade needed then either as you won't get raided.

If someone does start to fuck with you, don't panic. Even if they blow you up, you can force quit the game before it saves, and you'll still have most of your stock ready to try again.

Don't forget if you're CEO then you have the amazingly powerful Ghost Organization mode available for $12,000. That takes you, your associates and the vehicle cargo totally off the minimap for 3 minutes. Lester's old "off the radar" ability does NOT work when transporting cargo.

Barry Admin

As for running the bunker, I assign staff to stock and research at the same time. I believe they still produce the same amount when they're doing both things, but your supplies will run out quicker.

Had a bad run with research there, like 5 weapon camos in a row over the whole week. Still loving my incendiary bullets, and thermal heavy sniper scope though.

Thanks for all these tips Barry Admin. Most useful. I'm set up with all the basics now and I've started to slowly grind away at the car garage missions. Presumably they ramp up? I'm not making very much doing them at the moment.

For reasons that were totally out with my control, and which may or may not have been influenced by drinking a load of wine last night, I went and spunked 7 million on a super yacht.

I do not regret my decision.

Anyone here play the PC version?
I don't want to play with you, I'm just curious if there's any out there.

Congrats on the yacht! Shark card it?

With the vehicle warehouse, just basically don't sell your standard or mid range cars, keep them. When you get a top end, sell those - choose the last option and you get 100 grand, minus your 20 grand up front for modding it. Eventually you'll have all the standard and mid range cars collected (10 of each) and the game will then only every give you high end motors from that point on.

Bought another bunker upgrade instead of a flying jet bike that fires missiles :-( I'll grind out another million and get myself that or a jet soon though.

Nan I would never go that far (I think its about 70 quids worth of Megalodon shark card?). The benefit of knowing people at Rockstar is that they can gift stuff to family and friends. Up to a point I hasten to add

Yeah I read that about the vehicle warehouse stuff. Sell high end quickly. I had a couple of good days doing that but yesterday I had a frustrating day of other players giving me grief. Firstly I lost 100 grand worth of stock trying to deliver some medical goods by plane from my warehouse. All gone in an instant as some fucker blew me out of the sky from his Buzzard. Very annoying. Then some other fucker was camping outside my garage waiting to snipe me as I arrived delivering a Turismo. He got me in one shot then nicked my car. First time thats happened but I believe its quite a common and extremely wankerish thing to do. Especially at the cheapest warehouse in the East of the city, which is the one most commonly owned. There's often players in and around mine and I'm never sure of their intensions.

One thing I heard about which is quite useful to know when doing import export vehicle missions is that if you wait until you've got an empty or near empty lobby before selling cars, as I tend to do, Rockstar have programmed it so more NPC enemies appear to shoot at you. They really don't like making things easy for you.

I'm enjoying my bunker business, I like the fact you can build it, invest in it and make more profitable, but its a grind for not too much money. Plus there are some missions that really depend on you co-oping with other players, which I can't always do.

Barry Admin

Sorry to hear about the grief, but don't forget you can quickly force-close GTA when your cargo gets blown up, or even if it's a delivery mission you don't like! You will lose a small bit of stock (1 unit for bunker), but can try again. Just quickly close the program before it can save.

Yeah there was no way I was buying that warehouse, I tend to avoid the cheapest and most expensive options as they're crowded, and the cheapest ones usually have other drawbacks. For a little bit more I got the one in La Mesa, which I really like. It's on the outskirts of the city and I can quickly get on freeways for delivery missions. Sold 147 cars now ffs, burning myself out again.

And yes, if there isn't one other player on the server, you will get NPCs after you on almost all sourcing missions, and always on export. One other player will stop that, as you then have some competition/risk for your reward.

You can try and outrun the NPC's, but I just tend to get out and fight them now. It's only three waves - you may get an additional one or two on sourcing missions, it's the helicopters that are a real problem there. You can try shooting the gunners in some missions, which defangs them.

So yeah, I'll jump out of my car and run away from it on a solo session, and take cover behind something else, then kill the threee waves, and be on my merry way. Ammo costs are a lot lower than dealing with the buffed aimbot AI they have on there now.

Anyway, almost up to Oppressor or Hyrda/Rogue money again. Just waiting to see what the weekly reset brings in terms of 2X earning opportunity. Hopefully not MC businesses as I don't really want to bother. Coke is profitable but the delivery missions are meant to be tedious. I hope it's contact missions or something. Either way, I'm sitting on this 2 million until I find out.

I would say upgrading the bunker was worth it, btw. I haven't done security upgrades as I think you need a lot of stock before raids start, and I always sell at around the 100k mark so I don't have to deal with more than one delivery vehicle. Gun running missions are all pretty fun. Not a fan of the buggies, but have come to enjoy the monster truck ones, and the Phantom Wedge is always a laugh.

Really feel like The Oppresser might finally be on sale this week. Come on, Rockstar...

Edit: btw, I've wanted to spend more of my money on toys and fun, rather than business outlays and grinding, but what finally got me to invest in the equipment upgrade (having bought the cheaper staff upgrade last week) is that I was just fucking sick of having to pick up (or buy) supplies so often. Your bunker doesn't actually produce stock or research while you're picking up supplies, and it just becomes a fucking chore. Now I can go and do stuff for an hour or two, then come back and top  up my supplies, flog the stock, and then go back to doing whatever.

So I'd say it's definitely worth it, as it lessens the need for micromanaging and grinding the bunker.

Barry Admin

No double cash business bonus this week, boo, cheap fucks. I'm not bothering to play much this week because of that.

I was looking at videos of the upgrades glider (the Ultralight) and it goes much faster when you get racing handling and other upgrades on it. It looks beast, too - the wee mini gun you can get seems to have a decent kick to it. Plus you can go off the radar... oh man, sounds like such fun. Trouble is it costs another 1.15 million for me to get the hangar workshop installed. Sake.

Just gonna keep my money for now, maybe leave the bunker ticking over while I play Megadrive games on my 360. I've got 27 research projects left to chew through, and I can come by and fill up supplies and sell stock every hour or two. Then I can let my Xbone grind while I have fun.

OK, I've got about 880,000 and I want to get into this vehicle import export lark. I'll need a million for an office - which I can prob get by doing missions etc. Then what ?

You need an office and a warehouse and thats it. Its pretty simple from then on. Just be prepared for a grind and a certain amount of frustration.

Barry Admin

...and lots of adrenaline fuelled fun!

Yeah, that's it. As I've said before, just don't sell the standard and mid range cars, they are an investment. Then you'll only be given high end motors.

Look up "the mtu trick" to see how to get a solo/low pop lobby.

Once you get the CEO office you can also do Headhunter and Sightseer to make an easy 20 grand or so, and you can even do that in an invite only lobby, so that'll help you progress towards your vehicle warehouse too.

I ended up on GTA most of the day after all, running cars, actually. There was another guy on the server so I messaged to tell him I was friendly and not to panic, and he suggested teaming up. Then a few people filtered in and half his coke stock got blown up by a level 600 asshole in a bomber who kept harassing us. I got us another empty lobby, and we just did work. I suggested we just let the other know when we had two ready to go, then we join as associates, flog the cars, and swap over. His mate joined at one point so we were able to run three cars at the same time, nice.

Barry Admin

Just a couple of tips here... if you call in your Buzzard from Pegasus instead of spawning it using the CEO menu, you can then fly it into your hangar. Don't know what upgrades are available, just skins as I recall. You can still spawn the CEO version afterwards, and can do this with other Pegasus vehicles e.g. Cargobob.

Can't remember if I said this before, but I use the heist trick a lot when I've finished delivering something and want to go back to my offices (which are beside my apartment). Have a heist started, any heist. Go to your phone, accept Lesters invite for the heist, then back out. You'll respawn in your flat and in the same session.

You can now spawn vehicles (including your personal aircraft) from the Vehicles part of the Interaction Menu.

Use the heist trick to get your plane to spawn beside you, or ring for a job then back out. Saves having to travel to the aircraft spawn points, which can be far away, and annoying to get to as you can't also spawn a personal vehicle to get there.

Massive time savers! The heist trick came in very useful today when the level 600's mate turned up and joined in with trying to kill me. I managed to kill them both then teleported out of there haha.

I went and spunked $1,250,000 on a Frogger helicopter because I thought it would be a great time saver for darting around the map. Total fucking waste of money. It only spawns at helipad's where there are of course already Frogger choppers aplenty. I thought the Frogger would at least spawn on the helipad on top of your office but it doesn't even spawn there. You can't even make it your personal vehicle.

This heists trick sounds good though, I'll give it a go.

Barry Admin

MATE! If only you'd spent a bit more cash and got a Buzzard. It's still undeniably the best vehicle in the game, I go everywhere in it. I use it for most missions instead of the vehicles provided for e.g. resupplying your bunker. It's an absolute godsend, fast and manoeuvrable, and very, very capable of putting up a solid attack or defence. And with the CEO status, you can spawn it pretty much next to you.

It's a shame it doesn't let you spawn the Frogger as a CEO, however I had a quick check there in game, and it DOES seem like your assistant can call it in. So when you're in your office, talk to the secretary, click Pegasus Concierge, and then that should spawn your Frogger on the helipad for a small fee, and you'll warp right into it.

Another tip: say you're landing back at your offices instead of using the heist warp trick, it will then prompt you to press right on the dpad to land. I usually skip this and land manually, as I've found choppers can be prone to despawning afterwards, meaning you can't exit to the roof and use the same one without paying another $500 (or whatever.) If you land manually, the chopper will stay there and you can save that fee.

However, depending on your offices, it might be a pain in the cock to get to the roof anyway. I paid extra for my offices partly so I wouldn't need to be running up and down stairs every time I go in and out of the office, it was a big quality of life consideration for me. (And cost me about $2 million extra IIRC.)

Another awesome way to get around is the Oppressor, which I expect/hope will finally go on sale on Tuesday. If you buy an MC clubhouse for like 200 grand, you can store ten bikes, and you can also spawn motorbikes right beside you... including the Oppressor!

You can also send personal vehicles back to storage, which comes in useful, and if you are running work with someone, they get better payouts than they do for CEO. MC businesses themselves seem like too much of a pain to invest in, mind, I'm avoiding unless there's a sale and bonus income.

Glad that today I finally found someone who wants to do business stUff when necessary btw. He got his bro in there after I got us another empty server, and that means 1 bunker supply run instead of 3 (or instead of buying supplies for $45,000), plus selling three motors at a time for $300,000! (Minus $60,000 for upgrades and say $20,000 for total repairs.)  I made a million today without much hassle and it felt like much less of a grind, plus it was fun to see his coke missions and stuff.

Yeah I should have just kept on saving for a Buzzard. Still, I've got over a million saved up again so I'm well on my way.

I think I actually knew about getting my office concierge to bring my Frogger to the office roof. I'll need to remember that. I've got a decent office so don't need to take the stairs up.

Thats a good tip about not using the auto-land feature for parking my chopper on the office helipad. I'll need to remember that too. Cheers.

What do you make of this, I'm on PS3 and I've been playing online for just a few weeks, slowly worked up to about L12 doing mainly solo missions and car deliveries. I'm on a server last night and something weird happens, we are all killed & respawned or something, I'm thinking here we go, more hacking which has plagued the experience from first go.

Except suddenly, the screen wobbles a bit and I notice my bank balance change, does that say 1.3mil? My rep counter starts ticking up. Through to 20, on to 30. I get a trophy. It starts saying stuff is unlocked, I can do this & that. Rep keep rising. I'm waiting to get kicked off, or crash, when it climbs to 50 I think, is it best to log off now and catch this level, just in case it breaks? Do I need to save it?

Well no need, I log off and on and I'm straight up to L149, bank bal still there. I've been on tonight and it's the same, so a permanent change. How about that! A hack I can well live with. Trouble is now, I'm catching up with all the rank ups and new things i can do. 15 mins of phone calls flooding in.

Anyone heard of this happening?

Barry Admin

Yeah, doesn't have happen on this gen, but last gen has some crazy shit like people doing money drops. Sounds like a hacked session, I would spend a lot of that money quickly as it might get taken back.

Edit: ah it's only a million and most of it is xp, okay, fair enough really. I've been in CoD lobbies where that's happened when I went back to revisit Modern Warfare.

Uncle TechTip

Well I've still got the money & xp but I'm suffering now, as I think the game thinks I'm pretty good at this level, so it's skill matching me with similar players, and all the solo missions are rock hard. I'm avoiding crew missions as my naivety will be exposed. But on the other hand, got helicopters so...

mobias

I didn't realise it did any skill matching? I'm only rank 50 and quite often get put in lobbies with rank 200 or more players.

who are these people who have 6,000 or so as a ranking? is there some fuckery afoot (as it always seems to be a suspiciously round number ending in three zeroes) or are they the sort of people that sleep in internet cafes between 18-hour gaming bouts, like in Japan?

There's a lot of hackers about, though I thought Rockstar had rooted a lot of cheaters out and booted them from the game.

There's probably a few people who have ranked up improbably high through just playing the game legitimately for 18 hours a day everyday.

Malcy

Was looking forward to FINALLY playing this but i keep getting an installment error and have tried all the suggestions on a google search so i just gave up.

Barry Admin

Some good Black Friday deals on over this weekend. I just picked up the cheapest coke factory to get some more passive income, might also grab a meth lab. I bought the Oppressor recently, and it's brilliant fun, although I've not been on much to use it yet. But yeah, superb laugh.

I'm thinking I might grind out half a million and grab the Pyro, as I still really need/want a jet. No explosive bullets sadly, but can spam homing rockets, and is the fastest vehicle there is, plus highly maneuverable. You can take a passenger, too!

Transform races are double cash and rep, so I'll be jumping on some of those, great fun.
