Sebastian Cobb

I liked the Barry from Eastenders one as well.

The one with Jess Thom was good as well, bit of an insightful change from the usual comedians.

lauraxsynthesis

I particularly enjoy all the Sarah Millican ones.

If he interviews non-young comedians Ive not heard of I give that a chance because it's thanks to RHLSTP I got into Janey Godley and Limmy

Wait, people don't fast forward through them?

Do you listen to them at normal speed as well?

Hah. I listen at normal speed, yes. I don't see the point in speeding podcasts up.

I do fast-forward the ads at the beginning but if I'm listening in bed I can't usually be bothered to reach for the phone to skip the middle ads or the beginning ads of a second autoplayed episode.

beanheadmcginty

Surely all right-minded people fast forward until they hear Richard say the words "is best known"?

Magnum Valentino

Yeah I love Rich but I've not listened to his preamble in fucking yeeeeeears.

timahall

Do people really listen to podcasts sped up?! Why?!

Listen to more of them, I listen to a lot of podcasts and there isn't enough time in the day to listen to everything I'd like to.

However, if I'm actively listening 1.5x is fine, if it's background noise I struggle to keep up. But in most cases the speed is just the pace people speak, it's not like the pace has been curated as it would for a piece of music

According to podcast addict I've saved 46 days based on playback speed.

Magnum Valentino

Yeah I also listen at about 1.2x speed. It's usually to fit it into an inflexible amount of time (lunch break, exercise etc) although I will admit it started when I found that audiobooks were so much slower than my reading speed that I had to set them to 2x speed not to get frustrated.

jimboslice

I listen at 1.2x or 1.3x speed too YOU CAN FIT MORE IN THAT WAY I'M BEING EFFICIENT. You can barely tell, it just makes the jingles in certain podcasts sound a little bit odd.

Audiobooks definitely need speeding up even more, some of them are read at utterly glacial pace.

Also the worst thing about Herring's adverts is that every single one of them is recorded at a completely different volume.

Art Bear

I listen to podcasts at 1.5x. I tried listening to Buckles' jingles at normal speed - especially 'like and subscribe' -and I can't deal with how slow and ponderous they now sound.

Art Bear

This really fucks me off. It takes five minutes in post to fix. He was also about half the volume of Phil Hammond in the latest episode.

Surely that negates the point of getting the post cast host to do the adverts? When you're skipping them, and you hear the hosts talking so you assume the ads have ended, but then you accidentally get forced to book an air bnb (I'm looking at you, Marina Hyde and Richard Osman).

Virgo76

A good show. A joke about Michael Mosley included, presumably made before his death?

Red82

Full new podcast.  Not listened to it yet though.  Only seen the clip I posted earlier.

Ballad of Ballard Berkley

Just started listening to the Munnery episode.

Spoiler alert
Herring includes Linehan in his list of evil men who only have one testicle, which is funny, as is Munnery's follow‐up story about an eccied Linehan pissing his ‐ Munnery's ‐ bed.

I mean, it's not a hilarious story in and of itself, but any story in which Linehan is made to look a fool will always be welcome. Especially one told by a former comedy mate.

Herring and Munnery will presumably be on his official enemies list now.

I'm surprised Munnery went back on. He didn't seem happy to be there last time. Good for him. And a treat for us. Looking forward to this one.

Tiggles

The Phil Ellis one a couple of weeks ago had me splurt-laughing on the tram. Always my favourite thing to do.

RHLSTP 527 - Charlotte Church

This one's pretty good.  Charlotte is very political.

two contradictory sentences there

Red82

I'm starting a Good Charlotte thread in Oscillations later.  Maybe you'll enjoy that more. ;)

Twilkes

So two of my worlds have collided and Richard Herring has interviewed Moon Zappa for the book club. She once almost made him dinner, not a euphemism. Rundown is in today's blog, podcast is released towards the end of October.

spaghetamine

The one with Ben Partridge is excellent and also thought Munnery was on top form in his most recent episode, not sure whether he just drank too much before when he was on last time but he came across as a bit doddery and senile

Mr Trumpet

Yeah Partridge was great, as should be expected.

Dunno if it's still out there but there was an old one where Munnery was utterly steaming and insisted on arm wrestling Herring.
The Steaming Lou Sanders one got pulled

Des Wigwam

Did feel sorry for Herring in that one. Put me off her for ages which is shame on me really as I think she's pretty funny. Maybe Paul Ross asked for it to be pulled*.

* what? Maybe he did.

Twilkes

What year was the pulled Lou Sanders one? Surprised to see she was on Dancing On Ice, didn't think she had that nature of profile (realise she's fairly well known but that doesn't always translate into mainstream TV).

edit - seems she stopped drinking in 2017, was it really before that?

If my memory of where I was listening to it is right (walking to work in Dublin) it would be 2015/16.

non capisco

I've always been intrigued about what exactly happened during the one with Ian Kaiser Chiefs that never went out.
