Kevin Eldon doesn't feel like as much of a glaring omission because he rarely does that sort of thing. It's not like he's been on every other podcast.

Cold Meat Platter

The only interview with him I can think of was a red button extra on one of the series of Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle.

So a scoop for Stew there.

How about the actor named Kevin Eldon? Or is he too busy now lording it now he's got his own series?!? :D

have asked him, but he's not comfortable about appearing as himself. He is an actor after all

Dave Spikey would be interesting.

Quote from: frajer on March 01, 2023, 03:30:10 PMLovely stuff, looking forward to giving the Key ep a listen. Always on tremendous form.

Him walking around a closed-off art gallery in London with Adam Buxton is a contender for my favourite podcast episode ever.

Did this happen on Buxton's podcast? Don't remember that, will have to revisit.

Pranet

Ref Kevin Eldon, a friend bumped into him at Glastonbury one year and had a chat and said he was nice but seemed quite self doubting, iirc my friend said some nice things about his work and the the person Kevin Eldon was with said to him something like "see, people think you are really good".

Pink Gregory

Has Paul Putner ever had a full RHLSTP?

He had a small bit on RHEFP and a bit on the TMWRNJ special, but he's almost the equal of the actor Kevin Eldon (TAKE!) to me.

PlanktonSideburns

What kind of world is it where eldon is full of self doubt at home and Richard herring is wandering round a field with a face like a dog that ate its own shit

Yeah that's one of Buxton's, it's an absolute cracker. Great rapport between the two of them as they mull around exchanging stories and appreciating the art.

Just checked and it's the London Courtauld Gallery. Ep 77.

Don't forget he was a Shrek for it as well!

Edit: I recently watched Putt's interview with Ginger Beard Mark. No big revelations but he was nice company. A sweet man. Worth a listen.

Quote from: centristmelt on March 04, 2023, 12:04:36 AMThe latest Tim Key one is amazing. Laughed out loud countless times.

After a bit it was like the Python argument sketch "Just contradicting every statement the interviewer says isn't comedy" yet in spite of that I laughed every time.

Thanks! I was definitely listening in 2018, but maybe I missed it, or heard it and just forgot.

Anyway, downloaded and cued up now, cheers!

No worries, hope you enjoy! :)

It's all great stuff but Key recounting his drying on stage during press night is particularly memorable.

Listened to Key on the latest RHLSTP and as everyone's said it was indeed a great one. "It's bad when you lose control of the guest, and you're the guest" was a gem.

While we're on the subject of Key – I'm sure most people here have seen this, but if you haven't, put aside 25 mins immediately. Possibly my favourite short film ever.

I can't believe he's now releasing compilation shows made up entirely of emergency questions.

Wait until Peter Kay's put his book about TV writing out first.

I know, it's awesome isn't it.

I'd imagine that this is like Frank Zappa playing Dinah-Moe Hum every night so he can fund his work with large scale orchestras. But replace large scale orchestras with puppets and stones.

He has started doing a regular run of standup so that may precipitate a new live show, although he (understandably) seems reluctant to tour or do an Edinburgh run. I'm just waiting for when his kids do a Fringe show, hopefully called This Morning With Not Richard Not Judy.

TMWNRNJ!

Possibly a stupid question, but does the £2 Acast tier give you access to the videos? Is there even a full video of the Tim Key episode? I've just signed up but can only find audio stuff.

DrGreggles

I assume it's audio only if it's Acast, unless they've started hosting vids.

I think the video does exist. Check RHLSTP.com for what you need to do.

Also heartily recommend Wonderdate, which is now on YT in full:

Chris Evans - not that one - will email you with the video info but it's not always instant it could be in the next few days

Paul Putner recently followed me on Twitter and I was delighted.

Latest blog:
QuoteI am considering a return to stand up touring (and with material like this, who can blame me?) but I can't work out if my bodily shut down this week is due to a bug or exhaustion from taking on too much. I knew that Sunday to Thursday was going to be tough, as there was a lot of podcasts and a lot of travelling and parenting  never stops (until suddenly they fly the nest and it does and I suspect that that will be even worse), but if I can't manage that then I don't think I can manage even a two or three gigs a week tour. At the very least I think my exhaustion made me more susceptible to whatever bug I've picked up (and it's not from the kids who have been fine) and made the bug harder to shift, but the bugs are out there (they can sometimes even get on the news) and I have to be able to operate with them. I feel like I should probably be just about well enough to do RHLSTP tomorrow - because my body always seems to schedule in illness around work where possible - but this week, in my weakness, I am feeling my age.

If you're interested in seeing me do stand up I have some WIP gigs booked in at the Bill Murray

Hee! I saw him saying your name beneath the Curious Orange video.

Rich says that the ticket sales have been down for this run. Jordan Gray and Eshaan Akbar next week probably won't help that.

Snrub

Probably a little unlucky that Sarah Millican has pulled out for next week on that one. Interesting that in some of his twitter research on this is basically that just people aren't attending gigs in the same way post pandemic - or attending work in central London on a Monday that makes it make sense to stick around for a gig.

MigraineBoy

Mark Gatiss this week would probably had been a little more popular if Inside No 9 wasn't showing two eps with a Q&A at BFI.
