Blinder Data

caught most of the show tonight

a bit broad and obvious at points but overall a very enjoyable comedy show. audience participation maybe a bit overdone. amazing prosthetics! some technical issues but Butterfield is a character where things going wrong is fine

£20 for degree certificates at the merch stall! tote bags looked decent but.

Spoiler alert
the notorious BIG rap was a fantastic way to end and reminded you that he could've shouted bonbonbons for an hour and cunts would've lapped it up

I thought that, but a friend had a proper look at them and it was essentially £20 to meet Peter (albeit presumably very briefly) and get a quick photo.

I thought it was a fantastic show tonight. A bit broad in places but I loved his joke writing. Feeling blessed to get a high-five from the big man himself.

Do you think he might extend the run in the New Year?

The dates haven't worked out for me and it seems pretty popular so far...

The Roofdog

I have a ticket to the show in Hackney on Monday (25th) but I can't go. I'll take half face value (£15), would rather see a CaBBer get it and seetickets have bugger all returns policy as far as I can see. Only one ticket though I'm afraid. DM me.

SeeTickets do have a fan-to-fan marketplace where you can resell tickets (but not for more than face value): https://www.seetickets.com/content/fan-to-fan

A lot of people seem to complain that SeeTickets don't appear to advertise this service when people are looking at sold-out events, but I used it to flog one of my spare Exeter tickets and it got snapped up pretty quick.

The Mollusk

Damn, hope he's not regretting selling it to me for half price now!

Incidentally if anyone's going on Monday and fancies hanging out with me, I am well behaved and pleasant company!

idunnosomename

usually on seetickets you offer a bit under face otherwise why would anyone buy it. i've got rid of a ticket via it before and got a few slightly cheaper ones. always worth checking as as well as getting a bit of a reduction you help someone out.

Blinder Data

his latest email says he's playing the Hammersmith Apollo on Fri 14 June 2024! tickets on sale 10am Wednesday

would lead me to think he's doing another tour spring/summer 2024...?

the current show would lead a lot more work between now and then. audience participation went OK at our venue, god knows how it would go in a venue of 3000+ punters

The Mollusk

Excellent show from start to finish. The character is so well developed and it's delivered without fault, the whole show is just an extension of how great the sketches are. I was laughing at pretty much all of it, it's just so silly.

The crowd participants were just right as well. It looked like it might sway into "annoying person thinking they're hilarious" territory but this was curtailed.

Pretty sure I'm gonna try for Apollo tickets as I want my wife to see it and I'd happily watch it again.

Brundle-Fly

I was there tonight. Fantastic fun. I was told by a mate that apparently one of the participants in the

I thought he was amusing but classy enough not to shift the focus away from PS.

The Mollusk

Keep thinking about the defibrillator bit at the start and cracking up at "if anything, I think my heart is now beating faster than before".

The Mollusk

Got tickets for the Apollo gig, row D which is HELLA close to the stage. Buzzing.

madhair60

would probs try and go. regret missing this. i hate depression so much.

bgmnts

Yeah power through.

I went to see Stewart Lee peak coughing guts up couldn't be arsed to move etc and obviously didn't regret it despite the toll. Too much laughter.

Off to see this is Portsmouth on Friday.  This is the most I've looked forward to a show in ages.

I went to see The Day Shall Come with chronic diarrhoea. Well, the onset of. I managed to keep a lid on it and only had to leave the cinema once.

cacciaguida

Also got tickets for the Apollo - missed out on this run he's on now so I'm buzzing that I get another shot

Brian's twitter account has been retweeting a lot of these and it seems a lot of fun. "univesity" is a great typo

His ad for the Hammersmith Apollo also tickles me a great deal
https://twitter.com/MrBButterfield/status/1706965846747136380
pointing the wrong way for the URL seems such an obvious joke but I can't think where else I've seen it

bummed i didnt see the initial run since I've seen so many people on social media saying it's a blast but I'm working away right between the Manchester/Liverpool gigs so I couldn't have gone anyway

JamesTC

I wonder if he is recording it at the Apollo which is why it is so much later than the rest of the tour.

His podium (where he spent the majority of the show) was on the left side of the stage when I saw him. So, I would say on the left.

I picked the "best seats" option which stuck me on the left but I think that was just fluke.

Did you find the EartH rather a death trap getting to and from to the bar/toilets? I'm glad I had a proper seat right at the front because I came along too early by mistake. Don't know whether I could've sat for two hours on, essentially, a dirty step.

I got in there early too and was pleased to see unreserved actual chairs down the front. EartH theatre is a fucking shit venue. I've passed on seeing a few great bands there because I cannot stand the uncomfortable seating arrangement or the fact that the tiny little bar and the only toilets are both situated at the very top by the exit.

The first time I went (Deerhoof) when I arrived I was baffled. There were no chairs out, just those solid wooden block seats (which even during the support act were entirely full, clearly most punters knew the score and got in early). I was so confused - is this a seated only concert? Am I supposed to sit on this hard surface with no backrest for 2 hours with my bony arse and bad back? As soon as I saw couple of people gathering to stand in the tiny space between the front row and the stage I bolted down there and joined them.

The place has a smaller capacity downstairs venue as well which is is entirely standing space. However this one only has a single bottleneck exit/entrance as well, and in the heavily drawn out time it has taken me to exit either of the venues after a gig I have twice overheard someone saying "if there was a fire in here we'd be pretty fucked". They're not wrong.

Yeah, I don't think I'd be rushing back. If somebody in the seating area was to knock over a can of beer you'd have a wet arse for the rest of night.  And yes, we did case the joint where the fire exits were looking at the tiny exit point at the top the auditorium. Maybe Butterfield designed the venue? Sound was pretty good though, I thought.

Just got back from the Liverpool show. It was wonderful. Got a Buttcoin, a certificate and a picture with the big man. Backwards handclapping Brian Butterfield will be a cherished memory.

I was in the front row and could see the sweat pour off him in the second half when he got down on the floor. A proper champ wearing it all night and then meeting everybody for pictures.

It was a Liverpool specific bit but will spoiler

Spoiler alert
Enjoyed one of the Brian's Den idea being a Scouse Talking Pill which allowed Peter to talk in an exagerrated version of his normal accent.

Surely it's alright to spoil the Brian's Den ideas, since they're unlikely to be repeated. At Whitley Bay they were Drinking Cheese, ClingFoil and the Shoe Toilet.

Assuming Brian would simply read out suggestions and ad lib a bit, I drafted some hopefully funny adverts written under strange names. I pray Peter enjoyed.

JamesTC

At Liverpool it was:
Spoiler alert
Giant Malteser - Brian was very enthusiastic about this because he imaged it to be the size of the moon but was disappointed to hear the lady who suggested it imagined it more the size of a chocolate orange. He did accept that it would take a lot of malt.
Scouse Talking Pill - Brian took one and spoke scouse but insisted it hadn't worked yet.
Wafer Thin Bucket - A very thin cheap bucket. Brian told a story about him and some other businessmen who tried to club together to buy a bucket but they never did manage to get one.

Brilliant thanks. The last bit sounds like classic Butterfield.
