The cut away from the Gentle Ben chat show is just amazing. Always makes me laugh.

It's just brilliant. The whole concept with the microphone on his head and the cutaway is perfect.

I've often pondered what popular Simpsons memes come from post-'Golden Age' episodes.

I remember "Everything's coming up Milhouse" being the highlight of an otherwise unmemorable season 10 episode. Even at that it really sticks out and seems like someone came up with the line as something intentionally quotable and awkwardly shoehorned it in.

I don't think it became a meme but "sometimes I whittle the future" (season 15) felt like the funniest bit in years and probably the last joke I remember from watching new episodes.

Post-season 8 you do have the Kidz Newz episode and "Potato man",  "Where the hell have you been?!" (season 9) which I'd go to bat for.

Also Lieutenant L T Smash and "Here's your Who!" (season 12)

"pray for Mojo" from Girly Edition and "Daddy made a lot of crazy promises" from Trash of the Titans are the last big laughs in the Simpsons. ever. and one's dark humour about a funny monkey and the other is a stupid person condescending a child. talk about low hanging.

but they are both really funny.
