Utter Shit

Surprised to find that there's never been a thread about this on here, according to Google - in fact, barring a couple of tangential mentions it's never even been discussed!

For those who don't know, this was a TV special around the turn of the millennium starring some (most) of the big names in UK comedy of the time as kids performing a nativity play in a primary school. I have extremely vague, but very fond memories of it, so I've downloaded it and am hoping to have a watch over Christmas. Anyone remember it? Is it worth bothering with?

I love it. Great cast, lots of fun and some touching moments.

By coincidence that turned up yesterday when I was searching online for something else. Will have a look on this recommendation!

This looks fun, will add to my Christmas watchlist this year.

Was already planning to rewatch Combat Sheep, another star-studded Christmas special written by Tim Firth (alongside Peter Baynham and Graham Duff!) featuring Steve Coogan, Kevin Eldon and Ronni Ancona. I remember loving it on first broadcast.

Blinder Data

don't think i saw the whole thing as i was very young, but for some reason there's a joke from this that i've always remembered

(kids looking at the audience through the curtains from backstage)
kid 1: there's my mum!
kid 2: there's my dad!
kid 3: there's my social worker!

feels a bit harsh in a 2023 context

couldn't tell you much else about it except i remember it being affecting, especially Mark Addy's character

Well, I mean, that's the thing. That was Mark Addy's character saying that, wasn't it? Even with that 'gag', the character is treated sympathetically.
