Thanks for that - I'd heard about this, and have been pimping this in the Bridge chatroom for the last couple of weeks without actually getting round to trying it for myself.  So it IS good, is it?

In any case, it won't send all the titles of the clips you play to Real like theirs does, I'm sure.  (Heh, the panic that mentioning that fact provoked in the chatroom was fun to watch!)

Yes, but I think it remembers them, so that when you then connect to the net to watch/listen to a live stream (for example to The Compendium every Sunday) it then uploads the info to Real Networks anyway.  Not 100% sure about that, mind.

If you NEVER allow it to connect, you should be all right (well, MUST be all right, in theory).

I use Jet Audio to play real media. Works just fine.

VLC seems to work a treat for me.  Can get both a mac and PC version and is totally free.  Plays wmv, mpg,mpeg, rm, mov etc.

Ive had VLC for ages, didnt know that.
But can VLC stream from ya browser?

Heh, wow, same here... actually I uninstalled VLC a while ago from my Windows partition because I thought MPC rendered it redundant... ah well, I suppose it actually has now...

I use winamp to play my realmedia files.  You need a little plugin (google for tara realaudio winamp plugin) and you need realplayer installed so winamp can use it's codecs, but you never need to actually use the overbloated crappy thing.  Winamp plays the files without filling your resources with shit like reaplayer does.

Or you could use Media Player Classic, which plays them without an additional plugin (as long as you have Real Player or alternative installed).

Winamp's a rubbish video player, it was much better when it wasn't trying to be anything but a nice-looking audio player.

I'm still using winamp version 2.xx.  When I play a lowish quality realvideo file full screen its as good as if not better than when using realplayer/realone.  (Plus I find with realplayer I can't play a video full screen.  Well, I can, but if I do it bloody sticks and won't come out of full screen.  Unreliable, overbloated piece of crap.)
